Aaron has travelled north today (Sunday) and will spend the next week with the Midlands club, which holds Category One academy status.

Simmo was identified by a Wolves member of staff earlier this month, and after contacting Soccer Elite FA the pacy right-back has been handed the opportunity to train and play with the Wanderers’ until the end of January.

onoThe move follows an incredible few months for Simmo; he has been a regular in our showcase Scholarship fixtures against professional clubs, has won the National Cup as part of the Kent squad and has established himself in the Maidstone United first team, playing in front of crowds of 2000 and being an integral part of their famous FA Cup win against Stevenage earlier this season.

Lee Spiller, who has coached Simmo daily for the last 18 months alongside fellow Scholars coach Andy Hessenthaler said: “Wolves are very interested in Aaron and we are delighted he’s getting the recognition and the opportunity he deserves.

“He’s been a consistent performer in our pro fixtures and gained lots of praise from both Blackburn Rovers and Southampton in recent friendly games.

“I’m sure he will do superbly, he’s got all the attributes to play at the highest level and his attitude is first class.

“He works hard day in day out with our quality group of Scholars which we run from the excellent 3G pitch and facilities at Maplesden Noakes School.

“Like many of the SEFA Scholars Aaron is gaining first team football at semi pro level – in his case at Maidstone – and he regularly started last year in the Whitstable first team as a sixteen-year-old first year Scholar.

“Stepping into the men’s game is a key element of our Scholars’ development, and with our many contacts the lads are getting opportunities to bypass youth football and really start learning their trade at senior level.

37simmo“The lads really do get every chance to reach their full potential, and with the likes of Andy Hessenthaler and Nicky Southall as our Scholarship managers it not only gives the lads first class coaches who have played at the top level, but also great contacts opening doors and connecting players with a vast array of professional and semi professional clubs.

“In addition our partnership with a great school in the shape of Maplesden Noakes, along with Ursuline and Swadelands, means that whatever happens Aaron will come out of the Scholarship with a range of BTECs and A-Levels going forward into adult life.

“A final mention must go to Simmo’s SEFA team mates at Maplesden who train very hard, are all focused and all want to do well for each other.

“When you train with quality players everyday and at the tempo we deploy improvement is inevitable – and whatever the outcome is at Wolves Aaron has done superbly.”
