Congratulations to SEFA girls Alessia Russo, Chloe Fowler and Katie Startup who all played for England Ladies Under 17s against Germany last week.

All three girls started for the Three Lions in a 3-1 defeat at St George’s Park.

Despite a disappointing defeat against an excellent German side, there were positives with SEFA Academy product and current Chelsea midfielder Lessi captaining the side for the first time and scoring England’s only goal.

Meanwhile Chloe Fowler, another SEFA Academy product now at Chelsea, also played.

And after being in the squad a number of times, it was also current SEFA Academy player Katie’s first cap as an Under 17 player.

DSC_5453Speaking about Katie’s progress, SEFA’s Head Goalkeeper Coach Dean Ruddy said: “I couldn’t be prouder of Katie’s development over the years and most recently her success in the England squad.

“Her hard work, dedication and relentless pursuit for perfection in training has made her into the outstanding goalkeeper that she is today.”

Lee Spiller added: “Lessi, Chloe and Katie have all shown an incredible amount of drive and determination to get their game to this level and they are superb role models for everyone in our Academy.

“All three girls have moved through the Academy tiers before moving into our Elite sessions and on to professional clubs; it does not seem that long ago that Lessi was winning crossbar challenges at our Soccer Schools!

“All at SEFA are incredibly proud of all the girls and their progress at international level and we are sure this is just the start for Lessi, Chloe and Katie!”
