SEFA crowned southern area champions

Congratulations to our Education & Football Programme who have been crowned the Youth Development League southern area champions!

SEFA have secured the title after amassing the best points-per-game total across all three Youth Development League divisions in the south of England, seeing off Crystal Palace Volenti and Tooting & Mitcham United, who also won their respective leagues.

We will now face G3A Academy in a ‘Champion of Champions’ final, with the Mansfield-based academy becoming the midlands area champions after winning all 18 of their league games. What is sure to be a fantastic game takes place on Wednesday 25 May at The Harlow Arena.

SEFA managing director Rich Radbourne said: “The boys have had a really good season and it is fantastic to see that they have secured their place as the champions of the south of England.

“Considering it is our first season operating a team fully independently of any clubs or schools, it is an achievement all at SEFA should be proud of. Players from across our three centres – SEFA College, Brompton Academy / Chatham Grammar and Maplesden Noakes – have been a part of this squad which only dropped two points across the season, which shows the depth of quality we have across the board within our Education & Football programme.

“Massive credit must also go to Kieran Culleton and Joel Lake whose hard work on the training pitch each day has given the team the platform to reach this point; everyone knows the style of football SEFA likes to play, and it has been very satisfying to see this philosophy play out whilst also securing results on a weekly basis.

“We now look forward to what will be a really exciting game against G3A Academy, it will be a great occasion for the boys to be involved in and hopefully it ends with the national championship coming back down south with us at full time.”
