Girls’ Academy launched

Soccer Elite FA is delighted to launch a Girls’ Academy, beginning in September 2022.

Taking place at the Star Meadow Sports Complex in Gillingham, the SEFA Girls’ Academy aims to develop young female footballers of all abilities, offering weekly training sessions focused on the individual development of each player. These sessions will run in tandem with any commitments at grassroots clubs or professional teams, enhancing every child’s individual development alongside their club commitments.

Players will be provided with top quality coaching, utilising the SEFA philosophy of creating positive and aggressive players with a high level of technical skill. The Academy will deliver an outstanding service for girls of all abilities, providing an unrivalled experience for those looking to play regular grassroots / social football, through to those who one day may follow in the footsteps of SEFA’s very own European Championship winner Alessia Russo. Our Girls’ Academy sessions will be tiered on age and ability, giving an engaging and encouraging football experience which will allow our young footballers to develop at their own rate.

SEFA Girls’ Academy lead coach Patch Lee said: “After months of planning, we are thrilled to finally launch our new Girls’ Academy.

“With SEFA now able to hold sessions at Star Meadow, which will be undergoing extensive improvements over the coming months, we are now in a position to host these sessions and provide outstanding experience for each and every player involved.

“SEFA has a long and storied history with girls’ football, with Alessia Russo of course being the most notable example of a SEFA player going on to great things; Lessi and the rest of our girls over the years have historically always mixed in with the boys for their training, but it has been apparent for a while that the demand is absolutely there for girls-only sessions.

“We are so excited to move forward with our home venue secured and a truly fantastic coaching team in place, ensuring that this will be a long-term venture which will benefit the Kent girls football community for years to come. We are looking forward to welcoming budding female footballers old and new when we start in September!”

Girls in school years R-2 will take part in our Saturday morning Girls’ Pre Academy, while players in school years 3-9 will join our Girls’ Academy taking place on Tuesday nights, with all sessions taking place in September for FREE.
