Gillingham Saturday Academy Confirmed

Soccer Elite FA are delighted to announce the formation of a Saturday Academy at the Woodlands Sports Centre 3G in Gillingham.

The Saturday Academy follows on from the great success of our Gillingham Summer Soccer Schools which saw over 100 Medway-based players enjoy the SEFA coaching experience.

Sessions will take place at the Woodlands Sports Centre’s 3G pitch in Gillingham and will be taken by SEFA’s team of specially selected professional coaches.

The Saturday Academy is open to children in school years R-2 and will begin after the half term with the first session on November 8. Sessions will take place between 11:15am and 12:15pm.

The Saturday Academy’s professional coaching programme utilises similar sessions used across all Soccer Elite FA Academy tiers, providing the foundation for all our young stars to grow into the best footballer they can be. Sessions contain a blend of SAQ warm ups, technical drills and small-sided games, providing all of our players a head start as they take their first steps in the game.

This coaching programme has seen numerous players move on to professional academies, most notably our ‘Class of 2011’ which saw five players move to professional clubs in one year.

SEFA Head of Saturday Academies Kieran Culleton said: “During our Gillingham Summer Soccer Schools it became clear there was an appetite for SEFA’s coaching in the form of a weekly Academy Centre.

“Therefore we are delighted to make our long-awaited foray into the Medway towns with the launch of our Gillingham Saturday Academy.

“The Woodlands Sports Centre is the perfect venue for our sessions with its 3G pitch giving players the perfect platform to develop their skills all year round. We can not wait to get going in November!”
