Congratulations to Academy player Fin Cotton who has put pen to paper on a two-year scholarship at Millwall!
The move follows a successful trial period, with the Championship side moving quickly to secure the 16-year-old’s signature despite late interest from a Premier League club.
First joining the SEFA Academy aged 5, Fin impressed sufficiently in his first three years with us to join Charlton Athletic.
After leaving Charlton, we worked with Fin to rebuild his confidence and develop his all-round game, and thanks to his dedication and hard work, the central midfielder moved into a position to return to the ranks of a professional club this season.
Fin will now join the Lions’ under 16 squad ahead of becoming a full time scholar in the summer of 2021.
SEFA director Rich Radbourne said: “We are absolutely over the moon for Fin who is the latest SEFA Academy graduate to sign scholarship papers at a professional club.
“We identified Fin as somebody with bags of potential and have worked hard with him on his game, helping him to develop the unseen attributes a modern midfielder needs alongside his already excellent technical ability.
“He has come on leaps and bounds on this front in recent months, and we knew after placing him in at Millwall for a trial that he had an excellent chance of making the grade required.
“It speaks volumes that after playing against a Premier League club for Millwall, that club wanted to sign him as well, but Millwall was Fin’s first choice.
“Fin is a fantastic lad, an excellent player and has all the tools required to make a real impact at the level he is going into.
“Everyone at Soccer Elite FA wishes him all the best going forward!”
