Poppy picks Chelsea

Soccer Elite FA are delighted to announce that #SEFAAcademy player Poppy has signed for Chelsea.

Poppy’s move to the London giants comes on the back of a successful trial period with the club.

Poppy follows hot on the heels of two more SEFA girls who have signed for professional clubs this month - Poppy’s friends and #SEFAinHolland teammates Heidi and Sophie joined Charlton Athletic just a couple of weeks ago.

SEFA director Lee Spiller said: “It has certainly been a whirlwind few months for Poppy.

“After grabbing the attention of our staff who provide team coaching sessions at Kings Hill, Poppy - along with Heidi and Sophie - quickly showed what she was made of in our Monday sessions and it was a no-brainer to move her on to our Friday sessions.

“Poppy continued to make massive strides while playing at the Elite Centre at Maplesden Noakes and did superbly on our recent Holland tour, so it then became clear that we had to begin talking to the professional clubs we work closely with to arrange trials.

“We are very proud to see that Poppy made such a strong impression on the Chelsea coaches and we look forward to seeing her hopefully following in the footsteps of some of the other talented girls who have come through the SEFA system.”

Poppy’s mum Amanda added: “Poppy has very much enjoyed her time at Soccer Elite FA since joining towards the end of 2018.

“She had not been playing football for long before she became involved with them but has flourished under the expert coaching from the team. She has grown in confidence, improved her reaction times, agility, strength and she has made some fantastic new friends, both boys and girls.

“It was SEFA who pushed her forward into the Chelsea Foundation and that gave her the confidence to take trials at various clubs, and she has just secured her place with Chelsea.

“Thank you Soccer Elite FA!”
