How it all began…
Soccer Elite FA – A True Story
In 2005 Tony Browne & Lee Spiller had a vision. A vision that was born from a conversation over a game of FIFA before training. The banter was flying about, the goals were flying in and the usual chat of great football players past and present bounced back and forth!
LS: “What about Robson he was the best”.
TB: “No way Hoddle was much better”.
LS: “Different players mate.
TB: ”True, true”.
LS: “Mexico 86, Maradona and the hand of God! First time I ever cried over a football match”.
The conversation turned to players that didn’t fulfil their potential and to players that did!
TB: “Mate there are so many players that never make it because of lack of opportunities, there should be a place for all players to go to get the best training to prepare them for pro football”.
LS: “You know what it’s like, the better standard of coaching you get and the better standard of player around you makes you a better player”.
TB: ”Yeah and some players just need more time to develop”.
LS: ”So many players get overlooked by pro clubs because they are small or late developers and then miss out on the opportunity to be coached properly and then fall behind or lose interest”.
TB: ”We were lucky but there were loads of good players who could have done more in the game if they’d had the right guidance at the right time and someone to believe in them” .
And so the seed was sown. . . . . . . . and now the evolution of SEFA has started to take the country by storm.
