SEFA invited to festival with the pros

One of the most prestigious invites in SEFA’s 10 year history was accepted today as we can finally reveal we will be participating in the Academy Festival in Leicestershire.

We are proud to announce between April 5th and 7th we will be taking 22 u10 – u12 players to Oakham in Leicestershire for a 3 day residential festival where our Elite boys will face Premier League leaders Leicester City, alongside other leading academy sides such as Sunderland, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Bradford City, Peterborough United and Dundee United.

Head coach Kieran Culleton, who is heading up the trip, said “We were approached by Tom Statham (Manchester United Academy coach) who runs the festival on a recommendation from the FA to bring 2 sides up to play in this fantastic event.

“The 3 days are all about development, where players will play in non competitive fixtures, providing our players with a no fear environment in which I know they will thrive. Following on from exceptional feedback from recent fixtures at Chelsea, Millwall and Brighton, it is great to see SEFA as a whole regarded in such high esteem.

“This truly is a very exciting proposal with the opportunity to play and mix with these professional clubs, including the current Premier League leaders, and it is a real source of pride that we are held in such esteem to be invited to play alongside these seven fantastic clubs.

“Alongside this, the trip offers a fantastic social aspect with the players enjoying three days away where they will receive the treatment the pros would expect; players will receive help with their nutrition and can expect to take part in team meetings and more to help them have the best preparation for the games.

“This invite is something all of us at SEFA are absolutely delighted with and we are incredibly excited to be involved.”
