Now in its sixth year, Soccer Elite FA’s Scholarship programme has gone from strength to strength, offering young footballers in Kent the ultimate opportunity to combine post-16 education with daily football training from some of the best coaches around. The SEFA Scholarship offers a wide range of BTEC and A-Level qualifications alongside daily two hour football sessions and weekly matches that target continuous player development across all areas of modern day football.

Since its formation the Scholarship has seen three players move on to full time professional contracts at Bolton, Wigan, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Swindon Town with numerous other players playing first team football at non-league level and moving through various pathways including coaching, university and full time jobs at SEFA.

Scholars are trained by SEFA’s expert and UEFA qualified coaches including SEFA Directors of Coaching Lee Spiller and Rich Radbourne, alongside Lee Radford and Kieran Culleton.

Players receive everything you would expect as a modern day professional footballer; full size 3G and grass playing surfaces for training and home games, use of the latest and best training equipment, full bespoke Adidas SEFA training kit, individually tailored player fitness, nutrition and performance plans, access to physiotherapy and player and match analysis.

Players represent Soccer Elite FA in Academy leagues and also play for their own league clubs including semi-professional 1st Team and Under 21 teams of a number of Ryman League clubs)

Scholars also play regular showpiece fixtures against professional clubs and representative sides, providing players with the ideal platform to exhibit their capability to scouts and coaches alike from those clubs.

In addition and when applicable, SEFA will use their vast array of contacts from the Premier League to non league to arrange individual trials with clubs.

Throughout the programme scholars can also expect to achieve FA coaching licences, first aid qualifications, work placements and the chance to take part in top class European tournaments.

By combining football with A Level and BTEC education, SEFA’s Scholarship programme offers players the best opportunity to move into playing, coaching, university or the wider business world. Former SEFA Scholar Aaron Simpson plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ellis Iandolo and Kaiyne Woolery are both first team regulars at Swindon Town.

Along with these professional player, we also have numerous players past and present playing first team semi-professional football. Additionally, pathways are open to Scholars to become full time employees at the SEFA, and plenty of Scholars also receive part time paid coaching work at the company. Thanks to the A Levels and BTECs on offer, players also have the opportunity to move on to university to study a vast array of degrees if they wish.
